Supersized 5.0
Smart O&M for a fleet of SuperSized wind turbines 5.0
Project Context
To achieve the overarching goal of reduction of the cost of wind energy for the new generation of upscaled wind turbines, the smart Operations and Maintenance (O&M) approach is essential. Supersized 5.0 builds on the results of Supersized 4.0 and focuses on optimised O&M for a fleed of (offshore) wind farms. Such a smart O&M approach builds on three core innovation pillars: performance monitoring (PM), condition monitoring (CM) and structural health monitoring (SHM).
Project Description
Such a smart O&M approach builds on three core innovation pillars: performance monitoring (PM), condition monitoring (CM) and structural health monitoring (SHM). Within PM, CM and SHM areas, new methods are being developed that build on the combination of fast SCADA, lidar and measurements specifically aimed at performance monitoring (low-cost measurements of weather data), condition monitoring (low-cost acceleration detection on the drivetrain) and structural health measurements (low-cost tower accelerometer).
