At OWI-Lab, we believe that accelerating offshore wind innovation starts with sharing knowledge and fostering collaboration between all stakeholders — from researchers and developers to industry experts and policymakers. That’s why we’ve developed a dedicated Knowledge Hub, a central place where expertise becomes more accessible.

It connects people, ideas, and research outcomes across the offshore wind value chain, making a bridge between academia and industry. By bringing together insights, data, and learning opportunities, the Knowledge Hub supports a stronger, more connected Belgian offshore wind community — ready to tackle tomorrow’s challenges together.

OWI-Academy

The OWI-Academy brings together Belgium’s offshore wind PhD researchers and academic experts to exchange ideas, share progress, and strengthen collaboration across disciplines and institutions. Through dedicated events, workshops, and site visits, the Academy helps (early stage) researchers connect with industry challenges and build the skills and network needed to translate academic excellence into real-world impact. It’s a platform designed to grow the next generation of offshore wind innovators.

Expertise Tool

The Academic Expertise Tool offers a clear and structured overview of all Belgian academic offshore wind research and expertise. It helps industry, policymakers, and researchers quickly find the right academic partners for their needs.

By mapping expertise across institutions and topics, the tool makes finding the right expertise easier and it highlights the breadth and depth of Belgian offshore wind research. It’s a dynamic gateway to knowledge, designed to strengthen connections and accelerate innovation across the sector.

Training &
Knowledge Transfer

Through its training & knowledge transfer activities, OWI-Lab ensures that the latest offshore wind insights reach those who can put them into practice. We organise masterclasses, workshops, and advanced courses that translate research into practical knowledge for industry professionals, supporting continuous learning and innovation across the sector. Complementing this, our freely accessible metadatabase provides an overview of offshore wind measurement campaigns and datasets, making valuable research information available to all.
