Official launch of OWI CREATE project

Launching the OWI CREATE project: Belgium's Offshore Wind Innovation Center of Excellence!

On 24st September 2025 at the Wind Energy Technology Summit in Ghent, we proudly launched the OWI CREATE project, funded by FPS Economy/FOD Economie. This initiative will strengthen Belgium's position as a hub for RD&I in offshore wind and build stronger ties with our European partners.

During the launch, we could count on the excellent contributions of:

• Pieter Jan Jordaens (Program Manager Sirris - OWI-Lab) who outlined the project's goals, ambitions and next steps towards a Centre of Excellence

  
  

• Dr. Stephan Barth (Managing Director of ForWind - Centre for Wind Energy Research) who highlighted the importance of EU-level collaboration and shared how ForWind operates as a leading example in Germany

  
  

• Nancy Mahieu (Director General Energy - FPS Economy) who placed the OWI CREATE project in a broader national and EU policy context and underlined the need for deeper European collaboration in offshore wind.

With the OWI CREATE project we aim to set the stage for the next chapter in offshore wind innovation - in Belgium and across Europe.
