Parkwind

After a couple of offshore training days in oktober, employees from Sirris and VUB (Vrije Universiteit Brussel - BruWind) performed a first offshore measurement campaign under the flag of OWI-Lab. The application lab was contacted by North Wind NV to acquire the damping value of an offshore wind turbine which is mounted on a monopile foundation. To do so, a structural vibration measurement had to be performed in the low frequency domain (< 0,5Hz).

Because the OWI-Lab recently invested in a multi-purpose monitoring system to support measurement campaigns (especially focusing on structural purposes: see services) and our close collaboration with the acoustics & vibration research group of VUB, we were able to gain insight into this damping value. More offshore measurements were planned.
