N° of FTE working on wind topics

Less than 5

Our offshore wind expertise (general)

  • Advanced vision systems for inspection, monitoring, and autonomous operation in harsh maritime environments

  • Icing detection and blade damage detection using vision systems

Our group was/is involved in these key offshore wind projects:

MARISPEC – Maritime infrastructure security and protection through enhanced multi-wavelength drone surveillance

The lab is developing an autonomous drone platform with multi-wavelength imaging (visible, thermal, night-vision) and machine-learning detection of vessels and threats in maritime zones including offshore wind farms.

DDSHIP – Data-Driven Smart Shipping

Here the focus is on perception and situational awareness for autonomous/inland/maritime shipping in harsh conditions, using advanced camera/sensor fusion techniques, which could be highly relevant for offshore operations.

Hyperspectral imaging for automated inspection of offshore wind infrastructure

This work explores the use of hyperspectral imaging for corrosion and coating inspection of offshore wind turbine components, directly linked to offshore wind infrastructure.

Our relevant equipment | tools | infrastructure

for offshore wind:

  • High-resolution visible, infrared, and multispectral cameras

  • LiDAR sensors

  • Optical labs for calibration and sensor fusion

These facilities support the development and validation of AI-based vision and sensing systems for monitoring, inspection, and situational awareness in maritime environments.
